We all have that one friend… For me, it is my Sister!
It is too early to start Christmas shopping but it is the perfect time to start considering the ideal gifts for those you love and to give to charities.
Many Charitable organizations receive less money in the summer months. Closer to Christmas we may not be able to spread funds as far as we like. So consider donating to the local food bank, a street outreach team or any other charity. Don’t forget to get a receipt for your donation. Help save on taxes.
I like to take some time through my holidays to sit in the sun and really think about the people I love. Consider what they need or could use. Not just the surface thought but focusing on my gratitude to them too. For example, My mother is 85 years old. She is starting to think about breaking down her home. So last year my sister and I got her a hand crochet blanket by us. Not because it was needed but We knew she would enjoy a handmade gift from her girls. We also know that if she goes into a retirement home. It would get used it would also be highly identifiable.
I have a friend who I always buy for to say thank you for being you. Really, it is about spoiling the dog! They don’t need anything So I get little treats for those hard days when the 5 year old self wants Junk food and a blanket fort! The Dog gets healthy treats for fun or training.
So why start the gift list so early?
You can create an expect-to-spend budget and be able to control it. If your list is started early you have time to catch sales( Those dog treats can get expensive!)
So what should you consider doing in July to prep for Christmas?
Gift list – Don’t forget Stocking stuffers (See Aug Sept sales.)
Ideally, do this before Amazon Prime Day July 16th and 17th 2024. If you used Amazon. Look at your list there. Do try to Stick to your list. This might be a good time to order from your charity purchase list. Animal Shelters usually have a wanted items list.
Christmas Card List.
It gets smaller and smaller but I still want to send some to my Elders and a few peers. (Check to see if you need new cards or can wait till 50% off.)
Any Jams or preserves that will be given as gifts.
Including any decorative tops (If you have the fabric on hand) If you don’t wait a few more weeks to buy the fabric.
Please message me and let me know if there is anything I have forgotten.
I look forward to hearing your thoughts!
